"It's all about humanity for me. To see the human touch and the struggle with process. It makes both the creator and the viewer aware that human hands have touched this. That there was a mad scramble to get to the end. That it wasn't an easy road. It's the weather and "bruising" that shows up in the final work that really engages me. I think that's part of the raw nature of art-that there is serendipity and uncertainly in the process. The fragile line between success and failure-or perhaps the willingness to fail. The hope that there's redemption in the end. That the marks will have meaning and somehow describe the endeavor as a worthwhile cause."
